Callander is located within the Trossachs, an area of Sparkling Lochs, majestic mountains and beautiful Glens. Loch Katrine is a 15 minute drive from Callander and here you can take a trip on the Famous Sir Walter Scott leaving at various times for either a round trip or stopping off at Stronachlachar.
Callander is a lovely village with a great main street full of the most interesting shops, great buys at the Woollen Mills outlets. There are many souvenir shops and really good pub food at several of the Hotels in the Village. You will also find the typical Scottish tea rooms with delicious scones, pastries and other traditional local food. It is probably my favourite place in Scotland along with Oban.
We are off to Stirling tomorrow to check out the outlets and shops. Have passed the town many times but never actually been there.
We are on our own for a few days the girls had things to do with friends before we go to Paris on Friday with them.
This is the B&B we love here.
Mac and Ania are great hosts of a B&B, Annfield House which is in a word beautiful. Both Ania and Mac are so welcoming and friendly you feel the atmosphere when you walk in.
The rooms have been renovated to an extremely high standard in the most tasteful tonings. The furnishings in each room are different and everything including towels are top quality.
There is a mirror with a hairdryer which is quite unusual. Staying in many B&B's throughout the UK one of the most frustrating things I find is there is rarely a power point near a mirror if you wish to style your hair, however this is another of the thoughtful things these two lovely hard working people have supplied along with a make up mirror. The rooms all have DVD players along with flat screen TV's. There is a vast selection of DVD's for guests to choose from.
There is a lovely lounge with a TV, DVD's and afternoon tea is provided. We were served tea coffee and delicious home made cakes, there are complementary chocolates and sherry for the guests as well, eat your hearts out guys.
The wifi is free and very fast. This is the nicest B&B we have visited in Scotland over many years.

Wow we just had breakfast and what a breakfast. Check out photos below what do you think!!!!!
A selection from the buffet of juices, cereals, yogurt, several kinds of fruit, fresh bread and more.
Toast of your choice.
A cooked breakfast of your choice and such a huge choice.
Graeme had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon surrounded by mushrooms which he said was delicious.
Toast and juice.
Coffee
I had eggs with 2 of the best sausages I have ever tasted, 2 rashers of bacon, the most divine black pudding (you don't know what you are missing if you don't eat black pudding in Scotland it tastes nothing like it does in OZ.)
Toast and juice.
Fresh bread and fresh jam and butter. Real jam and real butter not in packets!!!.
Green tea
We won't be able to eat all day. That's the plan anyway.
Absolutely fabulous and beautifully cooked best breakie in Scotland, I'd say, cooked by Mac while Ania looked after the 6 tables of guests.
Everything runs so smoothly here very efficient altho most of the guests arrived almost at the same time in the breakfast room no one had to wait everyone was served in a lovely relaxed manner.
If you think we like it here you are absolutely right. If you come to Scotland Annfield must definitely be on your itinerary.
This area with the lochs, mountains and glens is really lovely and well worth a visit.
