We have arrived in one of our very favourite places the Greek Islands. We are in Naxos. The studios have everything you could want. We have a lovely studio room with cooking facilities, air con, a very private balcony with a sea view, a sofa, fridge and tv.
The owners have recently added a private indoor spa adjacent to their roof terrace with the same great views of sea and mountains. The spa which is just heaven is really welcome especially after a long walk. We spent a luxurious hour in it this afternoon. We are able to book it for when we would like to use it, which is great, there is even a large tv in the spa area. I have not seen this facility anywhere else.
The studios are a short walk to the main village shopping square where you will find all you need.
There are many restaurants cafes and bars along this area which is near the port and local beach.
Old Market Area
Wandering around Naxos we came across a labyrinth of paths through the Old Market Area which we explored fully this morning while most people were still in bed. We found many old buildings and a bakery that has been around since 1921 and it looked exactly as it probably did then. It was like going back in time with fruit stalls on the pathways and old people sitting in clusters, some who may never have ventured outside this village.
We say "Kaleemera" to each other, the Greek greeting in the morning. It is another world in the back streets of these picturesque villages on the Greek Islands compared to home.
