We were lucky enough to go to Orlando, Florida a couple of times when Darren and family were living there. We went for Erin's birthday and went back again for Christmas. It was great spending so much quality time with the girls. While there we saw quite a bit of normal life in the area, going to the girls school, seeing their Christmas concert, even made an Aussie pavlova when the kids were asked to bring something from their home country. Also going to local shopping centres which was fantastic, particularly like checking out supermarkets in any place we are visiting. The factory outlets in Orlando are unbelievable consequently we took empty cases on the second trip. The bargains were totally unbelievable compared to prices here.
If you only visit one fun park in the USA, make it Disneyworld.
It is so much fun for big kids just as much as for the little kids. I think it is the one place in the world where you can forget about all the pressures of everyday life for a few hours and lose yourself in the excitement and wonderment of such an amazing place.
Some of the highlights are:
Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, Haunted House, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Indiana Jones Adventure or Dumbo the Flying Elephant, just to name a few.
You will need to get to the park early, wear comfortable shoes as it is a long day in fact I would allow at least 2 full days to enjoy the park.
