The Big Apple what a magnificent city. Having spent a lot of time in New York it is one of our favourite places, we have had some great experiences here.
Rockefeller Centre

The Rockefeller Centre (50th Street ) is a great location.
It has an observation deck with great views of the city and also looks across to the Empire State Building. We have been here both day and night. The night lights are great but you can see lots more in the day.

Central ParkCentral Park is an amazing oasis in the middle of such a bustling city and a refuge for those who live in apartments in Manhatttan which the majority do. You will always see crowds of people walking, running, cycling and just generally enjoying the beauty of the park. A canoe ride on the lake is a bit of fun too and ever so relaxing on a sunny Manhattan day. We love New York in the Fall the colors of the foliage in the park are incredible. |
Brooklyn Diner 57th Street
Our favourite Diner, The Brooklyn Diner, is the perfect place for breakfast, lunch or dinner – it's the food you really want to eat. It's that feeling of going back to the old neighborhood, of Brooklyn, the best of New York. The famous chicken soup, baked mac & cheese, Chinese chicken salad and cheeseburger deluxe were all voted the BEST OF NEW YORK by New York Magazine. The chicken pot pie is so good that they often run out of it. Never has a chicken pie tasted so good. This is our absolute favourite. Brooklyn Diner 57th Street location is around the corner from Carnegie Hall, and close to Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle and City Center 55th Street. |

Zabar's DeliIf you like to mix with the locals in New York City like we do try Zabar’s Deli @ 80th and Broadway.
A great place to buy gourmet foods or wander through the kitchen wares on the second floor but allow yourself plenty of time to stop for a coffee in the Zabar's coffee shop next door. On our recent holiday in New York we rented an apartment in Midtown and it was an interesting walk to Zabars passing by side streets full of apartments, some brownstones, some with stoops that look like they are straight off a NY movie set. Deli’s and coffee shops full of New Yorkers buying their morning coffee on the run. |
Magnolia BakeryMagnolia Bakery is the place to buy cup cakes and other delicacies in New York CIty. Walking into the store which is always crowded you will be in awe of the variety.
My personal favorite is the Lemon. Wow! These taste divine. The other flavors such as Red velvet, Black & White Cookie, Pumpkin or Flourless Chocolate just to name a few are just as spectacular. You will also find other merchandise to purchase. I bought the environmentally friendly carry bags for my friends back home. |

Brooklyn
Brooklyn is a short drive over the Brooklyn Bridge or a ferry ride and you will find yourself in a cosmopolitan part of NYC. One of the 5 Boroughs of New York. The other four being Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens and Staten Island.
We took a Brooklyn Bus Tour which goes for around 2 1/2 hours and takes you through what the borough has to offer. It left from Battery Park on Manhattan Island not far from where the Staten Island Ferry docks. My favorite place in Brooklyn is Brooklyn Heights, a very trendy cafe society feel about the place. I love the apartments all through Brooklyn with the old fashioned stoops, very much the same style as the apartments in Perry Street Greenwich Village. |

Greenwich Village
Greenwich Village is so interesting it really is a village, fabulous to people watch. Great restaurants, cafes, a variety of shops both conventional and offbeat.
